How long does it take to make a Live Wedding Art painting is probably one of the most commonly asked questions we get. There are a few answers really. The Day-Of painting is really the base level to every package option. It’s the same for all the levels that people want to get into. From there, the different packages involve different levels of painting time and framing work. Here’s the breakdown.
The Day-Of Experience
This is the experience on the day of the wedding. Like I said, all the packages from the basic painting up to the Premier package are the same process on the wedding day. Tony and I show up hours beforehand. I begin to paint the background scene or the landscape of the painting. If the couple has chosen the ceremony to be the focus I’ll paint the ceremony site, if the couple wants the first look I’ll paint that location, if they want the first dance I’ll paint the dance floor, and so on. This process takes a few hours.
During the ceremony, first-look or first dance I sketch in the figures and Tony takes photos for reference. This takes anywhere from a few minutes to a half hour, depending on the couple and the proceedings.
After that I’ll be painting at cocktail hour through the reception. This is a great time. The people in the painting come to life. I start by focusing on the Bride and Groom and build from there. After they are brought to life I move on to the wedding party and the other guests that fit in the frame of the painting. This portion of the night lasts about 4 hours.
The day-of experience is around 7 or 8 hours, with an hour or two touch-up in the studio to get the skin tones correct. In total it’s about 9-10 hours.
Deluxe and Premier Packages
The Deluxe and Premier packages receive the same time and energy as the Day-Of painting and the Classic package, but they get extra time in the studio. The Deluxe package gets an extra 10 hours of development and the Premier receives 20 hours. This amount of time takes the artwork from being more impressionistic to being more refined and finely finished.
So in total, the Day-Of painting and the Classic package painting both get around 10 hours of work. The Deluxe package painting gets 20 hours total. The Premier package painting receives a total of 30 hours of development.
All of the paintings become beautiful in their own way. The beautiful thing about these pieces is that they look great at whatever level they are taken to. The difference is the level of fine tuning they get. The level of finish they desire is totally up to the client.
